HI Everybody!

I am here to share a project that I designed for Raija over at Quilters Treasure Chest

She is a friend of mine and she is from Finland.

She works with Island Batiks to curate bundles of fabrics and this particular bundle is called Limerick. I enjoy working with the Island Batik company as well so it seemed like a perfect time to jump in and join a blog hop showcasing a project.

I created Toivo. It’s a paper piecing project that can be a quilted pillow or wall hanging.

We have been working with companies and running in the same “circles” but hadn’t met in person until Sept of 2023. After getting to meet Raija in person in Salt lake City at the Garden of Quilts show ..I feel like we really connected. I like to call it our Scandinavian connection. I am like 4% Finnish..lol. But I am mostly Scandinavian. Norwegian and Swedish make up the bulk of that.

So after I designed my project I asked Raija for some meaningful words in Finnish and Toivo means Hope. For those of you who have been following along Hope is a very meaningful word for me. It also happens to be my middle name. My Icelandic grandmother gave me that name. Toivo was the word I chose for this pattern. I just wanted it to be special.

This is a quick project if you like paper piecing and I love a big quilted pillow. Do you remember being in grade school and having reading pillows? That is what these big pillow remind me of….school was a safe place for me.

If you like this pattern you can find it , HERE.

It uses small cuts of the Limerick line.

you can see a few of the bundles here:

Island Batik always delivers beautiful fabrics and I am so happy to share one of my designs in this beautiful collection from Quilters’ Treasure Chest designs.

I want to say thank you for supporting all of us! It’s been a fun project to work on and bring out into the world. :)

If you’d like to visit these other blogs on the blog tour and see all of the amazing creations:

many Blessings!

Charisma

I love the name of the pattern. Next time I see Raija I’ll have to learn hove to pronounce it. I love paper piecing and will have to take a closer look at the pattern.
