Whack-A-Doodle Lane is FINISHED!! YAHOO!
So a few years ago I started this quilt. Crazy enough I had all of the little blocks ( 400 of them ) finished in like 3-4 months. I just used scraps and pieced them as I went along. They finish at 4 inches. They sat in containers waiting to be put together. I really didn’t know how I wanted to put them together. I had sketched out a few ways and nothing was really speaking to me. I had made the big blocks to go with them because I wanted to make sure I had a church, a school, some bigger trees ect. But a FLAG kept coming to my mind….I am proud to be an American and I just needed to include one. It’s important to me. So I ordered the star fabric to complete a flag. Came up with my idea to just make a focal point and put the small blocks all around. I wanted the focal point off set so I purposely did that.
Here are some other posts where I talk about WADL and show where I got some of the blocks: here
All of the blocks were free online except the bigger trees I bought them in another pattern I am going to do….from etsy. but there are free ones very similar to them on one of the sites listed in the other blog post.
So just like with all of my other scrap quilts…..I used the philosophy of NO RULES!! There is everything in here. It’s was a total scrap buster and this quilts is HUGE!! It’s like 100 x118 or something crazy. It’s so heavy because of all of the fabrics and seams. But honestly I did the math and I am not sure this actually reached 10,000 pieces of fabric. it’s over 7000 for sure….but I am not going to do the rest of the math to figure it out. LOL

so there is WHACK A DOODLE Lane in all her glory! I am finishing up a bunch of these long time UFO’s……now onto the next!!
Blessings!
