Scrapping the Stash

Hi Everybody!

It’s been a few days since I have posted. I would say something standard like “its been crazy around here”… but who isn’t feeling crazy?

I haven’t been shopping. I am not even going to shop. I bought some things online for Roo. Rob wrapped them last week while she was working. I bought Rob a new coat and some jeans. I figured it was time since everything he has been wearing is holy and threadbare worn. it doesn’t feel like “the Holidays.”

I am very aware of how blessed we are and that things could be worse. I just don’t even know what to think honestly. I am just working. It’s a nice distraction that I have been using all year. It’s something that I can control and get some sort of positive result. A sense of accomplishment. something creative ect.

As I am working, I sort some of my scraps as I go along. I keep bins for 1.5, 2, 2.5 inch strips. When those bins get full I try to create a project to use them. I am going to make this scrappy 9 patch quilt to use my 1.5 inch strips. I will be creating a pattern for it after I complete the quilt.

But I thought it would be a fun project to include my friends & Quilting Community.

So I am asking my quilting community if you’d like to contribute a few 9 patches to my quilt. I need 400-9 patches that measure 3 inches finished (3.5 unfinished) each square is cut at 1.5 inches.

I would like the 5 colored patches to be one fabric. Can be any color, pattern, design, hue ect. The light-background patches can be white, cream , tone on tone, low volume…whatever just make sure there is a contrast.

For the people that contribute 9 patches to my quilt I will give them a complimentary pattern after it’s published. :) If they want one.

I just think it would be awesome to have a variety of colors, fabrics and patches from people from all over the world. Something else fun to focus on and think about.

I won’t be assembling the blocks/quilt until February. I have a ton of samples to make for fabric companies in Jan. So it will give me time to collect and make all of the 9 patches that I need. If  any of you are willing to send some 9 patches my way just contact me for the address. Thank you so much!

I will check in again in a few days.
