IRR group 2

Well I am part of a few IRR groups. That stands for International round robin.

We each make a center of a quilt then it makes its’ way across each member in our group…each memeber interprets the quilts and adds their own border to the group. It can be any design, any technique..the only rules is that it has to be pieced and anywhere between 3-8 inches. So in short our quilts travel all over the earth to come back home a finished quilt top. Pretty cool huh?

So I have finished two of my centers this week..and also had to start a new center of my own because mine is lost.

So I used a block Sally made me for my birthday last year..added a pieced border to send along to get it’s first round.

Then I received this block from Deb ( she’s in Japan) and  I added a small black border..side setting triangles and then another small black border with corner stones. I just thought it would be more interesting put on point…and I used that bright reddy pink color to give it some WOW!

Tammy (represents TX) started with this charming country center..it’s colored using crayon (which I love) and Deb had added the peiced patchwork border…I thought I would color a few images to match the center with crayon ..I used blue because that had been used before…and I used red on both sides to frame it all in. I kind of like red…ya think? You can tell I had them folded….but I finished them last night…and took pictures this morning.

It’s exciting to see these centers evolve and see how others in the group add to them. I love IRR’s..it gives me a chance to work on something I wouldn’t otherwise do..and I have to think outside the box. Plus I love team projects!~
