This quilt is such a beauty. This was made by two self-taught beginners. It’s pretty amazing!

The focus fabric is actually photos taken by the owners that they had printed on their own fabric. I think that’s pretty fantastic. The photos are so beautiful.IMG_4482 IMG_4483 IMG_4488 IMG_4489

Those types of fabrics fall into the “daunting” category…..when you are the quilter. Because you can’t really quilt over them…..it would love it’s focus….so I just wanted to go in and outline and highlight. I just wanted to quilt enough so the quilt could maintain it’s integrity and also bring out the best in each photo. I think I accomplished that. In the setting squares …I went back and forth on how I was going to quilt those…linear designs? Continuous curves? a design in each square? But then once I had it pinned on …all I could think was…garden..this is actually a garden. So I should treat them as if they are part of the garden…fillers in between the photos. I could have filled them in with leaves and vines…but didn’t want an all over type of design..so I called the owners and asked if I could quilt flower in each one….I know they aren’t “realistic” as the flower photos are…but many of the designs matched the flowers that were in the fabrics…so it still fits the theme. I bordered it with leaves…and added little loops in the white sashing. IMG_4486 IMG_4485 IMG_4484 IMG_4483

We thought we had a good quilt going but you made it a stunning quilt! We had complete faith after seeing the work that you’ve done. As an artist you have to know when to let go and trust someone with your baby! That trust was well -founded. Thanks Charisma for giving it your utmost!
