My friend Virginia over at Galloping Pony Studio

Designed a Freedom Convoy quilt. I just love this so much!

She has completed the first block:

You can download the pattern here:

2022 Convoy #1

Here is what Virgina has to say:

I’m so excited for the Freedom Convoys that are spreading around the world, that I decided to design a quilt pattern and share it. It will consist of:

  • 4 trucks
  • 4 trailers that are interchangeable
  • a road block
  • a few settings
  • 2 sizes: 9″ x 32″ and 6″ x 22″ this includes the truck and trailer together.

This is the first truck and trailer and I will share the others as I get them done.

Please share far and wide!

I just wanted to share this as I am part of everyday America. I live in a rural farming community. My husband works with truckers every day. Many people in our circle are truckers and they work hard to keep everything working. We rely on them.

Blessings

Charisma

I love your patterns Charisma, but I’m sorry, I do have to disagree with you on the freedom convoys. 90% of truckers here in Canada are vaccinated, doing their jobs and keeping the supply chain moving – a huge thank you to them! But why are we seeing swastikas and Trump 2024 signs at protests in Canada? The protesters are currently blocking businesses from being able to open in downtown Ottawa – isn’t that the opposite of freedom? So it’s okay for them to restrict the freedoms of others? Then there are the kids with some of these protesters, who have been held out of school for the past two weeks – did they have freedom of choice? Then imagine not being able to walk in the street or go to school because you are a girl; wanting a vaccine but you can’t get one because your country doesn’t have access to enough doses – they are the ones who need freedom. You have the freedom to choose to delete my comment if you wish; just wanted to let you hear from an actual Canadian. Take care & be well.

Peg are you only watching the main stream news media? There is a lot not being said about what this injection is doing to people. I understand the inconvenience of it all. But this is not just about the vaccine, it is about being forced to do whatever the government deems necessary and being coerced and lied to is putting our freedom at risk. Minneapolis downtown is nearly burned out and nothing was done to those criminals who did it. Some of our own government officials donated to get them out of jail quickly and back on the streets. Our southern border is wide open. No testing, spreading these people all over the Us at night under cover. Some would consider inconvenience a small price to pay for your future freedom. All over a vaccine that does work.

Sorry the last line should have read doesn’t work.

This is about freedom. Because every little bit they take from us grows and we get used to it. And pretty soon we will live in a country like China where you no longer can speak freely without fear of being abducted and silenced. And we will have allowed it because it was insidious. I am vaxxed and it’s not about vaccines. It’s about being forced to have them.

Thank you Charrisa for sharing this. The Dept of Justice has issued a memo basically saying if you spread information that does not go along with the current administration beliefs then you can be labeled a terrorist Scary times for sure.

Quilting is my sanctuary and refuge from all the insanity around me. I am so sorry that I even my quilting hobby is now also subject to political indoctrination.

I LOVE this! I am sure there will be dissension… that will never go away as long as we ARE free to speak. Speaking our minds like adults and listen to the words of “the other side” of our beliefs is what keeps balance and makes progress. God Bless America and Canada too!

YES! I am so stinking excited about this block and can’t wait to see the rest! I have tried to figure out how to design something like this but I don’t have those skills (yet) so my heart jumped when I saw it in your email. Thank you for sharing the block and for so much more. XOXO

I am in agreement with with the comment from Peg. You are an extremely talent quilter and designer Charisma, and it saddens me that your support of this project only adds continuum of the spread of misinformation. I seek freedom through truth, information and facts.

I hope the Canada declares a state of emergency and arrests every single one of the truckers, impounds their trucks and drives them into the dump.

Y’all are out of your minds.

    • Marianne February 17, 2022 at 9:40 am - Reply

No, it’s you who are out of your mind. You’ve in the 20-30% who cannot wake up. This is about Freedom for All. Stop watching the legacy media and educate yourself.

Weird. I thought we were supposed to support truckers and the right to peacefully protest.

Thanks for sharing Charisma. People need to remember that we have the right to agree or disagree with each other and not to feel offended because someone else doesn’t agree with you. I applaud you for supporting this movement. As many people have mentioned, It has gone far past the mask mandates and it is time that we as a group stand up to the elected officials and let them know this is not what we voted them in for. Here in Canada we are very much west against east and unfortunately a lot of us feel that the current government has caused a much larger rift contributing to this division than there ever has been in our history.

Thank you Charisma. I am proud of you. Your art is a beautiful form of peaceful protest. The truckers are another form of peaceful and necessary protest. I don’t enjoy going to the stores and not being able to buy things due to shortages, only to ultimately find them with a huge inflation of cost. Let the truckers do their job. My uncle almost died from myocardial inflation (don’t have time to check term, but essentially inflamed lining of the heart) which was found when he had covid after two injections and the booster all the while wearing masks everywhere to keep everyone safe. The myocardial is a known side effect of the vaccine. ROLL ON TRUCKERS, WE LOVE YOU!!

Charisma I love your patterns and quilting. Like many people you have worked hard to get where you are today. You quilted one of the most beautiful quilts iof valor for me. Quilts of valor are very patriotic. You support our veterans..They even have groups awarding in Canada, England and Australia. From WW II on. Remember to be kind to each other.

I thank God every day that I live in a country where I can share my thoughts with others. I am very glad that our neighbors to the North are able to do the same. Thank you Charisma for sharing your talent. I have enjoyed other patterns of your as well.

    Charisma,
I applaud you and what you stand for! If you are standing up for these Truckers and behind your friend, it is the right thing to do.
Even if I didn’t agree with you, you are my friend and politics doesn’t enter into that equation. I think it is sad that our country has come to this. Shame on those that think their way is the only way. I’m embarrassed that those that have been saying these nasty comments are Quilters. I have always thought Quilters were supportive of each other.
    Well guess not!
As for me, I will continue to follow you and your amazing Designs and Longarming. I’m proud of you!

    Best wishes for the future.
    Faith

Whether you agree with the Freedom Convoy or not, quilts have been political for a long time. There are lots of liberal, left-leaning quilters who have no problem voicing their politics through their quilts, and they should be free to do so. I’m delighted to see the cause of freedom represented in this quilt. Thanks, Charisma!

Charisma I love that you are supportive of the quilting community, and were willing to share a friend’s project that that friend was excited about. I know there are alot of people who will love having a free truck pattern. We don’t need to all agree on anything other than our love of creativity.

I am 100% with the Freedom Truckers and with restoring FREEDOM to our countries (I live in the US but wholeheartedly support the Canadian Truckers). It doesn’t bother me a bit that others disagree. There will always be those who oppose what is right. And freedom always has a price. We will get our freedom back from these tyrants who care nothing for their countries or their people. And I love the quilt pattern – just perfect!!

I just happened to find this blog and love this block. Since I have travelled all over the US, I came to realize decades ago that driving a big rig had to be the hardest job out there. Over the years, I have made signs that I hold up on the passenger side window (when husband drives) that says: THANK YOU! I am behind these truck convoys and I applaud you for putting this on your blog. Freedom is precious!

    Let Freedom ring!!!!
I support the Freedom Convoy absolutely!!
    Mandates are not freedom.
Covid vaccines should be a choice not mandated.
It is refreshing to see someone in the quilting community posting about this. All I have seen in this community are various designers attempting to virtue signal, appeal to far leftist globalists that truly have no clue about what is really going on.
We are watching the longest most painful “I told you so” in American history.
It is time to speak up and be proud of what we stand for.
May God bless you and May God bless America!! Let freedom ring!!
