So I know you all get into a routine right? The same as I do?
Do you find yourself just going to same old recipes or dinners that are staples in your home? What foods are always in your cupboards and fridge?
Ours …just off the top of my head are
Tortilla chips and salsa
lunch meat and bread for sandwiches.
rice, pasta, tomotoes ( in some form) , beans
and we have plenty of french fries because we get them from a plant that a friend works at..
We tend to make the same things over and over….tacos, tostadas, spaghetti, pasta salads, lost of different casseroles, chili.
I like to cook. But it’s difficult to please so many people in one house. Honestly. Some hate potatoes….some hate cream. some don’t like spicy. LOL I swear I could just serve potato chips and chicken nuggets every night just to please everyone. But then if you serve something to many days in a row…..they complain. LOL
So what I am wondering is what are your go-to meals. Maybe we can change it up …trade some recipes. Look for ideas. I go to pinterest and browse just like everyone else….but I know many quilters cook….so I just want to put it out there. Recipes that are tried and true.
I will leave you with this chicken salad recipe. We LOVE chicken salad sandwiches around here. We eat them all year long. I don’t have exact measurements because I usually just eye ball everything.
2 cans of chicken. ( I have also used a roasted chicken and just shredded it)
Salt and pepper to taste
garlic. I have used powder or fresh about 1 tsp.
fresh basil ( fresh is best)
grapes. Any color…cut in half or quarters ( about as much as chicken
celery….diced 1 stalk
green onions- I would say about 3 or 4 chopped
1/2 cup of mayo
1/4 cup of caesar dressing
Mix it all..if you feel it needs more liquid..just add more. The basil mixes with the grapes so well..it’s really yummy!
We serve with sourdough wheat bread. Sometimes when I buy that type of bread it is kind of dry…so I just make the sandwiches ahead of time…and let them sit in a sealed dish for a few hours. The bread compliments the mix very well. But we also just eat it on plain wheat bread. This salad never goes to waste.
