QUILT FOR AUCTION!
This is the first quilt that I want to list for sale. I have been sorting all of my own quilts to figure out how much I want to sell them for and what not. we all know as quilters that we just don’t ever get a fair amount for our quilts. We spend so much time and money on them that it’s really not worth selling them…we are just usually happy to give them away because anything else would be an insult…right? Plus selling quilts to people who quilt themselves is difficult because we all think…”Oh I can just make that myself” so we don’t want to shell out money when we can do it ourselves…but at the same time we are also the ones who can appreciate the details and work that went into all of it….so it’s a catch 22 right?
This was a gift from a friend who happens to be a famous quilter. She doesn’t have published books or anything but she has won many awards…and even won in paducah. She is published in many quilting magazines and does lots of competitive quilting. This quilt also showed well..and she handed it over freely to me to sell for my mission. wasn’t that sweet of her? It was pieced by a friend of hers..and they co-showed/owned it. Now it could be yours. Joyce ross is her name. Gwyn Pieced it for her..and the quilts name is Gwyn’s flower garden.
I tried to get pictures of the fine detailed quilting…there is a ton of quilting on this..tiny stitches and lots of filling. Many types of feathers & feathered designs…just beautiful! Everything else is a tight mctavishing design. It’s really beautiful!
I really don’t know what a fair price is….. it’s machine pieced, machine appliqued and machine quilted. It has warm and natural batting. All 100% cotton fabrics.
So I decided to make it a silent auction for a month. I will post updates as I get them in my regular posts of what the going price is…..and people can just email me at ch*******@ms*.com with their bid. I have 5 weeks to pay the first installment ( and biggest chunk) of money for my trip….so in that week if I don’t get pmt right away it will go to the next person in line. I would also ask that the person who wins this quilt pay for shipping. So keep that in mind when you make a bid. I will charge you actual shipping charges. Thanks so much!
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for all your support!
This is beautiful. Is it still up for auction?
