Spring Flowers.

IMG_3990Isn’t this quilt bright, cheery and springy? ( oK maybe Summery?)IMG_3991

Do you see the peanut gallery at the top holding the quilt? Yeah everything is a funny joke. 🙂

A few years ago Beth ( my binder/friend) and we were newly friends. She doesn’t have as much of a “stash” as I do. She just learned how to do fusible applique and she really likes it. So I lent her one of my Kim Shaffer books ( flower festival…I think?) and I let her roam through my scraps and take whatever she wanted. I also had a bolt of great background fabric. So she could have some fun. To thank me she made me a set of blocks. SO CUTE! She made a little wall hanging of her flowers and I quilted it for her..she sold it later at a craft fair.IMG_4007

I of course held on to mine and they sat in my “to-do” pile for 18 months. This last summer I went through one of my sewing spells and made the top with some jelly rolls and fabric from my stash. It worked up so nicely and it’s a great size. So it’s been sitting. I put it on the frame last weekend. I had intentions of just quilting it on Saturday and being done with it…..bit it sat on the frame for a few days….cause i got side tracked by scrap vomit.IMG_4005 IMG_4004

We had a dreary day one day this week and I finally quilted the flowers. So delightful! I quilted leaves, flowers…..and different designs in each frame of the flowers..IMG_4006

In the big area next to the center flower I quilted big flowers to fill that space.IMG_4012

The white sashings got fun flowers & leaves.IMG_4008

The border was just sitting in my stash..perfect color for the jelly rolls fabs..it wasn’t even planned. I turned those white flower into flower centers by quilting petals around each white circle…so cute. I wanted the quilting to be light and whimsy.IMG_4010 IMG_4009

Now it just needs binding.

I had this tulip fabric in my stash..a whole bolt was given to me a few summers ago…perfect for a backing.IMG_4011

It feels so good to finish up some projects.

I hope you all have a great bright ~Cheery DAY!
