Scraps, Organization, Scrappy trade boxes and a Sneek Peek!

Well I feel like I am still kind of in a funk. Do we all get like this at the beginning of the year after we have had the holiday RUSH, rush, rush? Maybe?

Part of getting out of the funk is to just get up and go ( at least in my experience…) and set goals, accomplish something. So I have been going through and trying to organize my stuff. It’s like impossible. LOL Only because one things leads to another…then another…then another…ect. It seems like it should only take an hour to do one..so why not just get it done and over…then the next 1.5 hours…so and and so on. I have so much excess….and I justify that in many ways…it was on sale, I need to be inspired, it’s my favorite designer..or a combination of those things. CRAZY!

I have wondered how many actual quilts do I have sitting in my stash..I mean how many could I make from my stash? It’s probably a pretty disturbing number. Yet I keep every scrap for more?

I have been searching through my stash for UFO’s. I am getting really good at knocking those out. Honestly.

I have a few that I have started piecing and just set aside

1. One block wonder ( supposed to be cubed….eventually. It’s about 4 years old)

2. pink and brown blocks from a QB swap ( years ago..I have already made one quilt from them..I have enough for another queen size.)

3. Halloween scrappy type panel quilt ..it’s been sitting for 4 years. On my cutting counter.

4. 3-D Christmas trees ( 2 years old)

5. quilt tops that just need to be quilted ( actually not even one whole bin….which means I am doing really well at getting caught up on my own)

6. 2 scrappy Vomit quiltsIMG_4028 IMG_4029 IMG_4030

All the blocks are ready to sew together and then I can start constructing the quilts. They will be queen size by the time I am done. And all scraps. I think I will even piece the backs with stash cuts….so they will look/be scrappy as well.

7. My 9 patch a day ( which will be a constant WIP)IMG_4033

However….if you asked me to count how many “kits” and “projects” I have grouped together for future projects…it would take me all day to count. Honestly. I think I need to quilt doing that…buying kits and projects. So After I get some of these ones I already own completed than I can reward myself with new fabrics. But I did find this treasure. I pinned it up so I could think about what I am going to do with it…..any of you have any ideas?ww

So in true organization fashion…I went through my scraps. Also because I needed to see what I dumped in the bin so I could cut some more scraps for my scrappy vomit. I made two…one with black and teal blocks…and one that will have the white, peach and black blocks. I had enough strips in my 2.5 inch bin to make two of these quilts…..and A jelly roll race I will make from this stack….IMG_4032

I am also going to add a french braid border to this RR center for the first round added to Jenn’s star. I still have plenty of brown left in my 2.5 inch strip bin because I took most of those out …I didn’t want to much mixed in with my scrappy vomit.IMG_4027

You know how when you start organizing and knocking out UFO’s the mess gets worse before it gets better? That’s where my cutting counter is right now. IMG_4034

This kind of stresses me out when my cutting counter looks like this. :)

I organized my scrap bin…..weird right?

So I have enough scraps to send out two boxes for a scrappy trade…just leave a comment on this post and I will contact you to get your info. The rules….I will send you my box of scraps..you make me a quilt ( or projects) using my scraps. If you need background scraps or cuts just let me know…I will send some along with it. I have no rules about what the pattern should be or the style. I am not picky…and I don’t want anyone to be nervous about working with me…I don’t judge or get upset or go through the quilts with a fine tooth comb. I am pretty easy going. I use them for gifts, charity quilts and long arm practice.IMG_4026 IMG_4025

So what you will get in return is free quilting from me. You send me back my leftover scraps along with my quilt tops ( or projects) and I will quilt whatever size quilt you made for me. If you make my a queen size quilt …and need 4 baby quilts quilted..that is perfectly fine. I am pretty easy going about the trade. I don’t give you a time limit and I ask the same in return. The nature of the quilting business is that work fluctuates. So I may be busy certain times of the year…I try to accommodate the trades..as best I can…so I would say send it to me with plenty of time before whatever deadline you have to meet.   Ask any questions if you need clarification. :)

I am working on this quilt…there are 56 stars ( I think) and they are all different. WOW! Stunning! So this is a Sneek Peek…..I am finally getting into a quilting groove again…this was just the quilt! IMG_4038 IMG_4036 IMG_4035

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

I’m in the middle of doing exactly the same thing. We are preparing to move in the next month or 2, so I thought it would be the perfect time to organize everything. Whoo-eee, what a mess. I can’t figure out why organizing things make things look more of a mess than before I started. LOL!! But, when it is done, it will all be nicely sorted and folded and organized. I’ve been following your quilting and your life stories for a while now. I love your quilting, and I love our Lord.

I will be sending B’s scraps and quilt top back. When I send you Fran’s center. So I will gladly take some of yours. I am making Bonny Hunters pineapple quilt with my scraps. I am doing 1 round a day on 8 blocks. Total 4 rounds. Some days I do not get any done but I do try for 8 blocks a week.

I reorganized my three quilting areas last week: one of this year’s goals is to consolidate into two areas. Among other things I found the table runner from a class hiding in plain sight. A bag of spraps with lots of purples and greens would tickle my fancy to make a large-ish quilt. I found your blog through the Quilt Board: your spiritual journey is inspiring. Mahalo for sharing with us. Please note that Flat Rate boxes and envelopes cost the same to ship to HI as to any mainland state.

Sorry, I am going to have to back out of the trade. I have some things going on with my life that may take some time to get resolved. Keep me in your prayers
