“A flower doesn’t think of competing with the flower next to it. It just blooms”
I love this quote. I often say to people that there is room for everyone. I think this quote explains it much better than I do. I believe we should compete less….I am not a highly competitive person…in fact sometimes I hate that mind set because of my boys. They are crazy and they lose sight of things in order to win most times. Other quilters will ask me a question and preface it with something like this: “I am not trying to infringe on your business” or “I am never going to start a business” or my customers will feel that they shouldn’t take quilts to other quilters….vice versa. The thing is I don’t worry about any of that stuff. I think there is room for everyone. We all have our own styles and talents. We all do things differently and I want to help and lift up anyone I can. I am not in a competition. If I am in one..it’s usually with myself. I prefer that. Its the way I was built.
“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–“
Grace is the most beautiful gift of all.
“A single thread of hope is still a very powerful thing”
I agree. In Matthew Jesus talks about having the faith of a tiny mustard seed……it can move a mountain. A single thread of hope keeps everything tethered and afloat. it’s all we need in those moments.
This is probably the most popular verse quoted and I remember being very young and visiting a church. An older woman came to me and brought me a plastic canvas crocheted book mark with this verse on it. She explained the verse to me…and it has always stuck with me.
How could she have known that small gesture would stay with someone their whole life? She didn’t. I have to remind myself of that sometimes when I am thinking that I am not doing enough. Sometimes it’s the small things..through Christ who did the BIG things.
“And I think to myself what a wonderful world”
Can you even read it without the song just automatically coming out? I can’t.
Thanks so much for taking this journey with me. It’s amazing how these quotes just touch my soul and marinate.
