Ok. I just have to say first of all…I don’t discriminate. I don’t get into political debates it’s not really my thing.
I also don’t judge..I have my own opinion..but I am also one of those people who doesn’t really get worked up..let the chips fall as they may..I vote…I do what I am supposed to do. In all actuality I don’t keep up on the issues as much as I should. I try to stay away from the news..most of the time because it’s not good for me. I am a person who feels pain pretty easily and I hurt for the world in it’s current state. In order to keep me well within my soul I need it in small doses….It would be fine if I didn’t hear about children being abused..animals..women …soldiers getting shot…so if I want to avoid that? No news..cause it’s on every night. am I bleeding heart. YES. I know.
So this morning.. Fridays my Dh is home..he loves to watch the news, history channel and the military channel….Everything I can’t handle…if it’s not those it’s X-files or something..UGH!
I watched the issue with Birth Control(BC) that happened this last week .I am a little ticked off! Honestly!
I worked in healthcare billing medical insurance for over ten years. I have seen people literally struggling to get medications they need covered from their insurance …it was a life and death situation. Insurance didn’t cover it..they need it and nothing else works..but it’s to expensive..Medicare being the (one) insurance..However the next patient that comes in has erectile dysfunction and VIAGRA is covered….why because a bunch of men on the panel deemed it a “quality of life” issue? (QOL) That ticks me off! Life and death doesn’t compare to QOL! Save all of us HENS from viagra..and get medication to people to live…I will willingly sacrifice.
So now a college student gets up and fights for womens rights to have BC ( covered by Insurance) ….to essentially be called a “prostitute” by Rush Limbaugh? Umm excuse me Sir ( I use that term loosely)? Women wouldn’t need BC of we were having sex with ourselves or eachother..so what do we call all of the men participating in this act? JOHNS?? What about a woman’s QOL? Why do we get called degrading names such as “Prostitute? Why do men get to be the dictators of what QOL actually is…and they get to spread their seeds everywhere and get no penalties to do so? Just where are they spreading that seed? This is totally a Rooster/Hen issue!
Then lets see what a women’s option is if she doesn’t have ready access to BC….abortion, many children ( wanted or otherwise) what does that do for many people’s (across the board?) QOL? When we have to many people on public assistance already…wounded abused children because they are unwanted and forced to live an an unhealthy environment? Not to mention many deadbeat fathers..that don’t pay support much less spend time with their children. I am pretty sure in my experience .. I have many children of my own….it costs more to give birth to one child than 10 years of BC…so let’s see what’s the better OPTION?? HMMM let’s think about that?
Sorry about that..I had to get on my soap box for a moment…not trying to push my beliefs on anyone…but I am so upset with how women are constantly having to fight for rights to everything a man has…and it’ just seems counter productive to me..why squash down women?? when we are supposed to be equal? I am sick of being told we are prostitues ..it is called being responsible! Wouldn’t it be better world if we were all on the same playing feild? If nobody was oppressed or told they were worthless? Murderers and pedophiles get more healthcare in prison paid by all of us…..The healthcare system is slowly but surely taking away QOL for everyone…Prison will look better to half the population than trying to make it in the real world…as a responsible human being!
Ok enough said..I need to go back to my happy studio and quilt….I am a free woman there..I get to make my own choices…I get to be happy and alive….I get to BLOOM there…no opression. I own my own business afterall….SO I big HUG and KISS to all the women before me who took the time to fight for my right to do so!
And of course a quote from Good Ole Gloria:
