Conniebury sent me this quilt for LAQ. She wanted an all over type design in the center and a different border design.
This line of fabric is so cute..it’s called lollipop trees by Moda.
so I thought these flowers would be perfect for this quilt ..they kind of mimic the flowers in the fabrics. ( I got the design from Brianna)….CUTE>CUTE>CUTE!
Feverishly quilting that is…..I am trying to get some work done since I have been working on house stuff.
Rob worked on some trim today…he and Carl took the utility trailer to the city dump….we have made so many trips this last month…Most people do their re-modeling projects in spring or summer…but since my DH works many hours during harvest season that is out for us. He gets to do work during the holiday months….which means the city dump is hardly ever busy …so I guess that is good. I have tried going to the dump…but I can’t back up the trailer….one of the workers had to back it in for me after I almost decided to take our load back home in tears…..cause I couldn’t figure it out. …last summer.
Rob also put in a new hard drive to the laptop. I bought a new laptop last Jan? or Feb? well I have bearely used it and it quit working. I thought maybe the kids did something to get a virus …but they are hardly on the laptop..and only when Rob let them.
So Carla found the problem last time she was here..apparently this brand and model of laptops has been having some issues. they sent us a new hard drive …Rob installed it today and spent half the day trying to get it to run. It’s still not running. So we will have to send it back probably. It is amazing to me that when he called they asked if we wanted to spend another 100$ to extend the warranty for another year?? This makes me mad..this laptop has less than 20 hours of use …breaks down…so now they want me to buy an extended warranty? Is this a scam or what?
LAst night we went to Wal-Mart to get a few things..I bought 5 storage containers and they only charged me for one….I am going back to the store so they can charghe me for teh other four…it has been bothering me all day..I didn’t notice it right away..I had wondered why my bill was so low..but it was black Friday..I thought maybe some things were on sale and I didn’t know. I was going to go back today…but I didn’t want to leave the house. So tomorrow …after church.
well I must go fold laundry now and put it away…hours upon hours of laundry…but at least it’s all washed and dried…YAhoo!
I finished several quilts today….I started my meal planning for the week.
Shelly is a new(er) quilter and this is the second one she has sent to me…it is beautiful, rich and lovely.
It has many shades of blue and silver…and we added all over type feathers to add to the richness of this little quilt.
I think the reason so many of us love feathers is because feathers are so versatile.
They look good on a country quilt, a rich Asian inspired quilt or a lovely Victorian floral. They can be made in so many different ways to compliment each quilt. There are some people who don’t care for feathers..but I think majority of us love them.
Thanks Shelly….Beth has the quilt and she is binding it….I will send it out later this week.
Dotty from NYC has sent me countless quilts…I can’t even tell you how many…she always uses the best fabrics…and very prolific for a new quilter.
Well now her daughter Molly has taken up quilting and Dotty calls her a “Stash Buster” which I think is a lovely nick name …..don’t you? How generous of dotty to share her Kaffe fabrics with her daughter..I hardly let myself cut into my own Kaffe fabrics unless its for a special project…I love them so much. LOL Then if my LQS still has the same print available..I will go buy it and replace what was in my stash if I used it…horrible right?
Anyway…here is Molly’s lovely quilt…I think she showcased all of these fabrics in a nice way…
Brianna quilted this quilt…Dotty likes simple border designs…so she did loops to fill in the whole border and then basted the corners down…because she outlined the birds in the cornerstones. The center has many bubble flowers which are ADORABLE!
Caroline and I have worked together a few different times this year. She always makes beautiful projects.
This is a OBW that she put together. I am always amazed by OBW’s because when finished they look nothing like the original fabric. AMAZING!
So this one I was a bit stumped as to how to quilt again..I know? I think that happens often with OBW’s because they usually have so much going on …you don’t want to take away from them…but I never know how simple I should actually quilt?
So this one I quilted different types of flowers leaves and swirls in the center, Charisma Curls in the inside borers..and a leafy feather in the outer border.
The second Brown batik quilt is for Caroline’s son. Caroline asked if Carl could quilt it and use his creativity. LOL Well I was a bit nervous about this. Carl is very creative…I just want him to be a little more in control of the machine before I let him have complete freedom. So told him she had mentioned maybe some waves….and then maybe he could mimic some of the designs in the material…or follow the lines in the material..if all else fails just revert back to stipple.
well he did waves in the outside border….more like a sideways water design…..he tried to outline some dragon flies in some of the blocks..(I think he needs some more practice with control) and he tried following lines on one of the materials that kind of looks like stipple in a way. In the end he did have to rip out some areas and re-quilt….But it was a good learning experience for him.
