This is another post for the Blogger’s Quilt Festival at Amy’s Creative Side.
All of the sampler blocks were part of an online swap. The theme was Raspberry Chocolate. I had 40 some blocks, I think? I just used the last one in a scrappy quilt I put together a couple weeks ago…..Ask me how long I have had all of these blocks?> It took me a few years to get them in actual quilts. So I have decided to quit joining as many swaps. I love the whole swap idea though. I am an avid chain piecer….and making 100 of the same block doesn’t bother me….so when you can swap them with others & get 100 different clocks…it’s like magic. 🙂
I am in love with modern quilts and decided to take the blocks and put them in a modern type setting. So I just drew up my own sketch and worked from that. Lots of strips…and squares. I wanted plenty of room for quilting.
Once it was on the frame…I wanted to use it for practice….quilting all of those modern designs. I got out Angela Walter’s ( you know? the modern quilting queen…whom I just adore!) book and started mixing it up. It was lots of fun and by the time I was finished I was pretty confident in many of the designs.
I just want to say Thank you! To all the people in the swap. I just want to say thanks for all of the inspiration that quilters are willing to share. It’s great to be a part of such a fabulous community!
I would encourage everyone to look at all the quilts entered & vote for your favorite. It’s a great opportunity to see quilts you may have not seen before.
