I am part of the Moses Lake Modern Quilt Guild. I love our little group. They are all fabulous.
Anyway, One of our members shared this MQG tutorial with us at the last meeting.
Just click on that link to see it.
I wanted to try it and one day I decided to get out some leftover layer cake squares I had from another project. I keep a bolt of white kona in my stash. So I cut 9-10 inch squares from that and used 9 layer cake squares…which made 18 sets of HST and then cut them and put them back together according to the tutorial. It was fast and easy. It made a baby quilt size.
but I will say that I like the original better. It was 2 solid colored fabrics and the look is more graphic and modern. Clean lines ect.
Mine looks fine…it’s going to make a great baby quilt and it was a good project for me to put together on a day to re-charge so it served it’s purpose. I quilted it with straight lines.
So much fun! I am so glad to be in my group and share ideas! Let me know if you try this idea! I would love to see your versions.
I hope you all have a great day!
