Well I had a few jelly rolls in my studio that I got for 4$ a piece at Wal-mart a few years ago. I don’t buy Wal-Mart fabric ( I know- I am a fabric snob….)…but these were cute colored and I have just been using them as a table decoration. LOL my friend Donna would look at them every time she came in the studio and turn her nose up at me…LOL. I know..I know.
So I decided to just use them up and put them in a donation quilt. I didn’t want to spend alot of time working with this fabric…..it’s not nice fabric. Sorry….just being honest. I really think if that’s what a quilter likes and that’s what they can afford it’s better to use that than not create at all. But if you can afford the better fabric that is best because it will last longer and wear better. I don’t want to offend anyone..I quilt for everyone and all fabrics. 🙂 But I think this jelly roll was worse than the bolted stuff honestly.
So I did put it together and I knew I could make one more cut and make my strips go horizontally….but I kind of liked the vertical look…so I kept them that way. I added a border of wal-mart fabric that I washed first. To make sure it would be ok.
I quilted it pretty heavily with flowers and leaves…just to make sure when I donate it..it will have a better chance of staying together. I think it turned out pretty cute…and now Donna won’t give me the “look” when she sees them. LOL
Another quick finish for me…..yay! Love those!
I hope you are all having a blessed weekend!
