Happy Little Trees

This is a bit off topic but did you know that you can watch Bob Ross on Netflix now? My kids absolutely love watching his shows….I think it’s funny that he is back in style. I used to watch him paint Happy little trees on PBS when I was a kid and I thought he was amazing.

My kids brought it up like they were telling me about some famous artist that I didn’t know. LOL HELLLLOOOO!!

Anyway I saw this image on Pinterest:

The original artist was featured here.

I am almost ashamed to admit that I didn’t look at any of that before I made my little wall hanging.  I actually checked to see who the artist was or what the image was actually used for …which is textiles. I checked after the fact to share it with all of you. I want to give credit to the original artist, her name is Eloise Renouf. You can visit her Etsy shop here.

I just saw the image….printed it out and embroidered it. I fell in love with it.

I did write to her and showed her how I made her image into my little embroidered wall hanging. She was thrilled that I shared it with her …:) I am so glad I tracked it back to her. Sometimes you just never know how the artists will feel….I am not selling it or anything….I am keeping it. I just loved her art and wanted to create with it. 🙂 The fact that she was so kind just makes it that much more special.

I just used different shades of browns, beiges and golds to complete the trees.

I embroidered them on linen.  Linen just embroiders so easy and I love the way it quilts up.

I used some of my Sweet as Honey fabrics..Well just a fat quarter of it…the birds looked great with the trees. I auditioned several fabrics and this was my favorite….I have used this line in another project….now I am getting down to the end of that stash of fabrics and I really love it.

I quilted pebbles in the backgrounds to make the trees pop. I thought I might do wood grain in the border fabric…but wanted to keep the modern feel so opted for straight lines to represent the trees…and the birds just seems to like those lines better than the wood grain….I mean if they could talk to me…they would have confirmed my decision and all…:)

I just wanted to share my little wall hanging..I find inspiration everywhere….pinterest is a favorite, of course. I think you all know how much I love trees..they make it into my artwork on lots of ways.

I hope you have a happy day!
