Fabric Fast Stats

IMG_8293 IMG_8294 I was sorting through fabric last week looking for pieces to make backs…ect. I bought 2 yards of each of these “Save the Planet” fabric back when I worked at the shop….years ago. Specifically for grocery bags…..and how many bags have I made since then? to many to count…..yet I had not cut into this fabric. Until now. It feels good to finally get them made and off the fabric shelves.    IMG_8295

The inside has two sets of double pockets and I put in an insert with cardboard to make the bottoms more stable.IMG_8296 IMG_8297

I am working on a project that Mike and I are teaming up on …and we will share will you all soon. 🙂 I am also working on a new pattern. It’s almost finished…..( I am getting help..because believe me when I say I have scattered thoughts) ….and I finally finished step 5 of the Bonnie Hunter Celtic Solstice mystery quilt. I can finally start putting blocks together. WHEW! I wasn’t sure if I would ever get this far. LOL But I think we all know I am a task oriented person…I always found worth in things I can do. It seemed to be the only thing I could get accolades for as a young one…and now that I know I don’t need to have that …it’s just a personal thing I have built within me…..I say NO to others….but I just know myself well enough to know that sometimes I need to have a success or I get burned out. It’s a funny weird thing.

I was gifted this fat quarter pack one year when everyone else got to go to market and I didn’t get to go. So I had plenty of gifts…..and I took them off the shelf a few weeks ago and ironed them. They are called “Once Upon a Time” by RJR fabrics.  I have been staring at them trying to figure out what I was going to do. They have traveled from one area to the next as I debated. So I decided to look through my patterns and I found “Galleria” by Anka’s Treasures in my basket. I had 14 Fq’s but only needed 12…so I took the best 12…..and started cutting yesterday. I cut them out…it was really fast. Then I made myself finish my work load…..and started working on the quilt. I have to say it goes together very quickly…however many of these fabrics are directional….so what I had to rip out more than I wanted to. Even after the top was done I had to rip out a block…grrrrrrr! Some of the strips ( or frames) are not facing the right direction…but it’s because of how you cut the FQ’s……I wasn’t going to get them all to face the right way…so I decided not to care about those and just let the chips fall where they may…..what a hassle. So if you ever want to make this pattern…which is very easy to follow..and all the measurements were perfect….I would say use non-directional fabrics …unlike I did. 🙂 In the original pattern she appliqued flowers in the white sections between the blocks. My fabric choices are enough…I don’t want the extra..I like the negative white space. It makes it look more modern.  IMG_8322 IMG_8323 IMG_8324

I was struggling with a border option Friday night. I posted a picture on FB because I was digging through my stash and couldn’t find what I wanted. I had a few cuts that would technically match but I wasn’t in love with them. I had resigned myself to the fact that when you are on a fabric diet …that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Truth be told if I wasn’t on a fabric diet I would have ordered yardage from the line…..because that’s easier. So I got votes online. I was just going to go with that option and decided just to scan through my stash again. So glad I did. Because I found the gray & white polka dot. So I am using the green & orange dot for the back….it still made it onto the quilt. IMG_8321
