I am always so overwhelmed by the generosity of quilters.
as you all know it’s been national news..and I have brought it up a time or two but the fires in Central WA have been devastating in my area. I went up to the donation site in Pateros a few weeks ago. They actually had to change locations and organize things a bit differently. But what is difficult is that we keep getting thunder & lightening storms that have us all on the edge of our seats because it’s still over 100 degrees in our area. That could light a whole other set of fires.
We have been so thick with smoke in our town that we are all suffering with the red eyes, runny noses ect. Of course not complaining because we have our homes, pets & loved ones. It breaks my heart that my neighbors have to go through all of this.
So I have been collecting donations…and of course quilts. I put a call out on my blog & facebook. Lynne …Sweet Lynne came through for me and sent a hand quilted quilt.
The thing with these quilts is that we are not just dumping them off at a donation site. We know how special these quilts are. We know how much work and cost goes into quilts. So we are entrusting them to the local guild. Who is then hand delivering them to the victims. I find this whole process amazing! I think that these quilts come from all over the world and blessing strangers.
Jo Kramer from Jo’s country Junction also sent a whole box full of 7 quilts. She is a new(ish) long arm quilter…she asked her blog followers to donate tops for her to practice quilting.
She will finish them and then donate them to various charities and needs. So I contacted her and she sent these. I am so grateful! I just want to validate her good work and let you all know that she is AMAZING! if you have time to check out her blog please do. It’s here.
So here are some pictures of the quilts. All from people all over the country with generous hearts!
I love this more modern one:
Here are a few more:
Thank you so much for all the donations. I would also just like to ask for continued prayers for these families. It wasn’t lost on me that any of those families could easily be mine. Nobody can control lightening and brush fires. complete orchards and family business’ have been destroyed….and since i own my own home business I understand how devastating that can be as well.
