Appliqued Posies

Bonita made this quilt ..Many of you know but I quilt for my LQS….I don’t actually know Bonita..but she called to see if I would be willing to do heirloom type quilting. I don’t generally post pictures of shop quilts…only because many people didn’t know I had my own business..or a website… but Virginia has been asking people when they drop off quilts at the shop if it’s ok for me to post pictures! Yay!

But mostly when people drop off quilts at the shop they just want allover designs ..not much custom work or heirloom quilting. Which is good and bad….hehe. I think it’s also confusing to people what the difference between heirloom and custom quilting is….but that is conversation for another day.  But Bonita specifically asked for heirloom quilting….I LOVE heirloom quilting..but you know there is always such a balance that you have to maintain…I used 3 different boomarang rulers from Deloa..I actually own all of her boomarangs..they are easy to use and so many uses…I wanted to play with them a bit and this quilt was perfect for that. I kind of wanted to give the feeling of a scalloped border..and it worked out perfect ..I just followed the lines from the side setting triangles.

I have to say I get lots of inspiration from many people on the net….and my quilty friends..so I think we all copy from eachother..there is a bit of that..a little of this..I tried not to overwhelm the quilt…yet keep all the designs cohesive. I love the finish! I hope teh owner loves it too!

    OMG!
I am crying tears of Joy! I knew that you were going to
do a fabulous job – but I bet you will get the award for
best machine quilting in the show this fall in
Wenatchee. I have been saving this quilt for about 8 or
more years because I was afraid to let anyone else do it.
I need more kleenex! Now I need to see the other one you
quilted. It will be in the show too. I love what you do,
and when I pick up the quilts, I’m bringing in the latest
one for you. It’s bright and happy and will be perfect when you finish it. I’m sooooo happy!

I am always taken aback when I look at your work! I appreciate your creativity and your ability to make the quilt more without taking away from the quilt top.

I have to know now, what IS the difference between Heirloom and Custom quilting?
