Fabric Fast Stats August 3

Well it’s Sunday again..how quickly each week rolls by. I did get a few projects done this week. Grandma’s heart. The shoo fly quilt ( golden Ring) and Flurry. The Christmas presents. I have also been working on some hand stitching. It’s been a great relaxing kind of a week. I finished the Asterisk Flimsy ….and that has been sitting for 18 months…well 9 of the blocks anyway…I had to piece the other 39. LOL.

I also must confess that I bought some fabric..it’s a technicality because I bought some wool pennies. I am not counting wool in my fabric fast stats because I have very few cuts of wool and until this year I have not been using much of it…..but when I posted it Mike called me out…for breaking my fast. 🙁 I Gave myself a 500$ limit for the year…which is a mere fraction of what I would normally spend  in a year on fabric……and even with the 2 cuts of minkee I have bought this year and my wool pennies..I am still under 100$.   And since it’s now August…we only have 4 months to go ??? I think my fast is still going pretty strong.

I am actually pretty proud of myself on one hand because I have lasted this long. I am not proud of myself on the other because I am a fabric hoarder….and there is just no use to have that much excess other than an unhealthy obsession. I am thinking I am really training myself to look at all of this differently and I think I have enough stamina to maybe go another year with what I have got….with some provisions, Of course. I will definitely need to stock up on a few things. But honestly I have so many more projects in my stash that could last me another year….and I wouldn’t run out of fabric.

Fabric Count   412 yards+6+6= 424 yards used this far

I used about 6 yards for Grandma’s heart. I didn’t count the backing because that’s Minkee….and I bought it. I don’t keep a healthy stash of minkee on hand.

I also counted 6 yards for the Asterisk (#2) quilt. I haven’t pieced a back or binding for it yet.

78 Projects! WOW! I am also proud to say that Most of them are all quilted…not just quilt tops. I just need to quilt around 10 more and they will all be completed projects. I think I can do that by the end of the year? For sure!  I really wonder if I can hit 100 projects? Only 4 months left?? The only prayer I have of even reaching that goal is by quilting all of the tops I have sitting in bins? I don’t know? I will have to see how close I can get to 100 finished projects.

  1. BTW I called her out with love! 🙂 So 442 yards of fabric used from your stash, how many yards on a regular bolt? 15? If it is 15 that’s like 29 and a half BOLTS of fabric from your stash. WOWSERS! THIS is why a fabric fast works for you! 🙂 You basically have your own quilt shop in your house. 😛
